LAA Junior Squad

What is LAA Junior Squad Training?

Squad training is an opportunity for all junior archers to receive structured training together,  on top of any program currently being run at their own club . Training sessions are usually held once a month during the winter season.

The aim is to inspire and support our junior archers, helping them to compete at their best.

The sessions consist of a mix of activities to promote: -

  • Team building

  • Personal Development

  • Interpersonal skills, meet new archers and share experiences

  • Develop consistent form utilising a mixture of activities including drills & skills, games (some of which are archery themed!) and one on one coaching.

Who Can Attend?

Squad training is open to all archers under 21 years of age, whatever their age, ability, experience or bowstyle.

When are the Squad Training Sessions?

Planned dates for training sessions for 2024:

  • 18th February  Spinners Mill

  • Sat. 23rd (NOTE DATE) March      Chorley Bowmen 12:30 – 4:30 (session will be outdoors)

  • CANCELLED         Wigan & Orrell

How Team Selection Works

Before each inter county competition squad members are asked to provide their availability and recent competition scores. The Junior manager will select the team and inform the selected archers.

Competitions

Currently there is only one inter county competition between Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria, DNAA and Yorkshire. This is held on the first weekend in October.
