January 2024 Update

Happy New Year!

This is just a short update. The main news is the Coaching Conference in January 2024:

Northern Counties (NCAS) Coaching Conference

21st January 2024

Barnsley Rugby Club, Shaw Lane, Barnsley S70 6HZ

Please do your best to attend the conference. You can apply via your Sports 80 account.  The cost is £10.  I’m sure you will enjoy the day. Let’s make sure Lancashire coaches are well represented.

The LAA Coaching Subcommittee comprises of:

Gaynor Moorhouse County Coaching Organiser

Di Clarke Finance Administrator.

Plus, co opted members from time to time.

  • I have spent a great deal of my time working with the Coaching License Renewal Panel which is chaired by Simon Stepto and includes Craig Hobin (Lancashire) and Gary Pimblett (Cumbria.)

  • A big thank you to Peter Clarke who has chaired the renewal panel for the last 5 years.  He has now stepped down and Simon is now doing this role.

  • Session coach training will take place at Bowmen of Pendle and Samlesbury in March 2024.  Archers can apply via their Sports80 account.

  • I’m still in the process of contacting coaches who have let their coaches license lapse.  I have via Jude Lane LAA secretary sent an email out to all Lancashire Archery Clubs reminding coaches to renew their licenses.

  • Any coach who needs to renew their licence please contact Gaynor Moorhouse  cco@lancashire-archery.org.uk

  • To renew your licence, you will need to complete the coaches licence renewal form which you can find on the Archery GB website.  (If your licence has lapsed you will need to include a short covering email stating why your licence has lapsed.)  Send them to me at cco@lancashire-archery.org.uk

If you need any help with this let me know.

  • If your coaching licence has lapsed you will, as you probably know need a current DBS and you will need to complete a face-to-face online safeguarding course.  You can either find one on your Sports80 account or do one on ukcoaching.org The course you need to do is Safeguarding and Protecting Children.

  • Finally, a big thank you to all the coaches who give up their time to coach and support archers in Lancashire.
