Legitimate Interest Assessment

The GDPR 2018 regulations set out six lawful grounds for processing an individual’s data, one of which is processing under the Legitimate Interests of a Controller. As well as providing the right for individuals to object to the processing of Personal Data based on Legitimate Interests, the GDPR sets out strict criteria for organisations that seek to rely on Legitimate Interests. These include establishing that the processing is necessary and that a balancing test has been conducted. To this end the LAA have undertaken a Legitimate Interest Assessment, on 15th January 2024.
