2016

Intercounties Match The day was kind to us as far as weather was concerned and once again Lancashire won a fair few trophies. We won the Recurve but came second in the Longbow and Compound. Still room for improvement.

Although the ground was a bit soggy everybody did their best.

Again thanks must go to Pendle and Samlesbury for their efforts on the day and especially the buffet tea after the match. The catering staff kept everybody going with hot drinks throughout the day even though they are still in the process of building a kitchen in their range. Thank you from Lancashire and especially me, Elaine, Team Manager

Aaron Stansfield: New Youth County Judge Congratulations to Aaron Stansfield who has passed his assessment and is now a Youth County Judge.

Senior Intercounties Report On a cold but fine day in Driffield, Yorkshire, the Lancashire team took on Yorkshire, Cheshire, Durham & Northumberland and Cumbria, shooting York/Hereford rounds.

The recurves won their match and the recurves ladies were the best of the lady teams. Also, the recurves won the matches against Cheshire and Yorkshire although the scores were close in all disciplines.

It should also be noted that some team members were shooting in their first county match.

Paul Tittensor was top gents recurve, Colin Wallwork was top gents compound and Dale Message was top gents longbow.

The new County squad uniform stood out amongst the archers on the line and a good report was received from all who wore them. Well done to all who took part. Elaine M.

Judges Retiring & Appointed

Many thanks Roger & Jean Stretton who are retiring from the tournament circuit after several years service. Congratulations to Ruth Hill who has been confirmed as a Regional Judge. Colin Mudd and Lorraine Morris have been confirmed as county judges.

Five Counties Match Once again at the beginning of October the Lancashire archery team took on the rest of the North of England (Cheshire,Cumbria,Yorkshire,Durham and Northumberland and Isle of Man) in all disciplines at Knutsford Sports Club. Knutsford.

The tournament turned out to be a pretty good day as far as weather gets. After some initial hiccups all became a steady slog to the end. The results were sorted while soup and a roll and a cup of tea was provided for the archers.

In the Recurve section Lancashire won the Ladies and Gents team trophies, the match against Cheshire, winners over the longest distance and overall Recurve winners. However the compound and longbow teams were not successful. So if you shoot longbow or compounds, come on, there is room for improvement. However those who took part gave of their best and Lancashire and myself can only be grateful, well done. Elaine E. Muncaster Team Manager Senior Results

Junior Compound Archers Thomas Rice of Nethermoss and Maddison Codling of Assheton, put in exceptional performances at the September Double FITA STAR at Corus Deeside, North Wales. Thomas shot 3 UK Records (plus 4 NCAS and 2 LAA County Records). Maddison shot 2 UK National Records (which were also NCAS and 2 LAA Records). Both archers – unsurprisingly – managed to secure 1st place in their respective age/bow categories. Very well done!
