INTRODUCTION

The Lancashire Archery Association (LAA) Coaching Sub-Committee is a sub-committee of the LAA Management Committee. The purpose of the sub-committee is to ensure that coaching in Lancashire is fully supported by the County Association but able to operate with a high degree of autonomy.

MEMBERSHIP

The Sub-Committee shall consist of the County Coaching Organiser (CCO), a Finance Administrator (FA) and the Chair of the License Renewal Panel. Plus, additional members co-opted by the CCO and the sub-committee as required, to carry out specific roles, e.g. event organiser.

The Chair of the License Renewal Panel to be appointed by the C.C.O. and the FA for a period of 5 years.

APPOINTMENT OF SUB-COMMITTEE

The LAA shall at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in each year, elect the nominated CCO to the LAA until the next following AGM. (The CCO and the FA will be nominated by the coaches at their annual meeting.)

FREQUENCY OF MEETINGS

The Sub-Committee shall meet not less than four times in each year before each LAA meeting so they can feedback. Meetings may be held either in person or via video / telephone conferencing.

MEETING ATTENDANCE

The CCO and Finance Administrator shall normally be required to attend all meetings of the Sub-Committee. Other members may, at the CCO discretion or the Sub-Committee’s request, attend meetings as required.

RECORD OF MEETINGS

The CCO shall ensure that an agreed written report is sent to the LAA Management Committee, for their quarterly meeting.

FINANCE

The sub-committee shall have at its disposal funding earmarked for the support of coaching within Lancashire by the LAA management committee. This funding will be being managed by the sub-committee Financial Administrator and be accountable to the LAA treasurer for the purposes of annual accounting.

A quarterly statement of expenditure / income will be presented to the LAA Management Committee via the CCO’s quarterly report.

The Sub-Committee will be free to use said funds as deemed appropriate to support coaches, however approval from the LAA Management Committee should be sought for the purchase of large value items of equipment. All monies in the LACG account will remain ring-fenced for use of the coaching sub committee to be used to support any coaching activities, (excluding initial coach training.)

All expenditure to be conducted in line with the LAA financial/expenses protocol.

ASSETS

Any assets purchased by the Sub-Committee will be assets of the LAA and should be made available to all clubs within the LAA either on a loan basis or via coaches attending coaching sessions, in the same way that the Chronotir Light System, held by the Judging team, is available for use at clubs.

EXPENSES

The sub-committee will be responsible for funding coaches’ expenses, in line with the LAA Expense protocol.

FUNCTIONS OF THE SUB-COMMITTEE

The function of the LAA coaching sub-committee is to:

  • Act as the key coaching contact in Lancashire. Act as an advocate for archery coaching in Lancashire.

  • Engage with all LAA coaches on a regular basis, keeping coaches informed of coaching activities and opportunities.

  • Contact all new coaches and provide details of the coaching group and where to get advice and support.

  • Report to the LAA management committee the activities of the sub-committee (including a summary of expenditure and income).

  • CCO to download an up-to-date list of Lancashire licensed coaches provided by AGB each month.

  • Track coach licensing requirements and issue reminders to coaches.

  • Ensure all coaches are made aware of the license renewal process and informed of the license panel membership.

  • Ensure that the license renewal applications are processed in accordance with Archery GB guidelines.

  • Facilitate coach training opportunities and promote initiatives that help archers across Lancashire.

  • Provide additional opportunities for Continual Professional Development (CPD) to support coaches to enable them to keep up to date.

  • Develop coach mentoring networks.

  • Work with the LAA squad managers to ensure that all senior and junior squad members have access to coaching and the opportunity to have their own coach.

  • Arrange coaching opportunities for all Lancashire archers (e.g., coaching workshops open to all LAA archers).
